UFC Fight Night: Yan vs. Dvalishvili (also known as UFC Fight Night 221, UFC on ESPN+ 79) is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that will take place on March 11, 2023, at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Paradise, Nevada part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area, United States.
The UFC is set to host its first event at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas, despite being based in the city and regularly hosting events there. Originally, former UFC Light Heavyweight Championship contender Anthony Smith was slated to face Jamahal Hill in a light heavyweight bout as the event’s main event.
However, Hill was removed from the fight to headline UFC 283 against former champion Glover Teixeira for the vacant title, and Smith was rescheduled to face Johnny Walker at a later UFC Fight Night event.
The event will now be headlined by a bantamweight bout between former UFC Bantamweight Champion Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili.
Mario Bautista and Guido Cannetti are expected to face each other in a bantamweight bout at the event, after their previous fight was cancelled due to Bautista testing positive for COVID-19.
Makhmud Muradov and Abusupiyan Magomedov were expected to fight in a middleweight bout, but Muradov withdrew due to injury and has since pulled out again.
Raphael Assunção was set to face Kyler Phillips in a bantamweight bout, but Phillips withdrew from the event for undisclosed reasons and was replaced by Davey Grant.
A light heavyweight bout between Nikita Krylov and former LFA Light Heavyweight Champion Ryan Spann was originally scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night: Muniz vs. Allen, but was cancelled when Krylov fell ill. The pair has since been rescheduled for this event at a catchweight of 215 pounds.
Finally, Carlston Harris was originally set to face Abubakar Nurmagomedov in a welterweight bout, but Nurmagomedov withdrew from the fight due to undisclosed reasons and was replaced by Jared Gooden.
